CAPITOL REEF NATIONAL PARK
From the deep, dank depths of the Photo Backlog, it's colorful, it's layered, and it's another desert... It's Capitol Reef National Park!
These are pretty old at this point, taken in May 2024; I guess I just never felt satisfied with any of them, except the one with the dead tree, because they make excellent subjects. But I gave them another look and felt like some of these others were semi-decent shots.
One thing you should know about me is I'm a perfectionist. I take my time to make sure things that I create are just right - straight angles, smooth lines, paying attention to details, days comparing products to make sure I buy the right thing and not regret the purchase. Shit like that. So when I was editing those first few photos, for the life of me I could not figure out what was straight or where the horizon line was. I mean just look at how wonky the terrain is! The majority of my hours spent editing these photos was rotating them points of a degree left or right trying to figure what "looked" straight. I can't say it was time well spent, but I'm happy with the results. Also, every time I take a photo I feel like I have it perfectly aligned in the viewfinder, but nope, it never is. Or maybe it actually is, but then looking at the photos a year later you have a different perspective. Buh-dum-tiss!
So yeah, Capitol Reef is a cool place. Especially if you like geology and rock layers as much as I do. This park has them in spades. Can anyone tell me what the fuck "has them in spades" even means?!
