BADGER CREEK CAFE
Alrighty, here we go with the first hotdog of the season! I drove an hour away and took time off work to try this spot, and I'd say it was worth it.
This is the Green Chili & Cheese Dog from Badger Creek Cafe in Tetonia, ID. Now, I may have some harsh criticism on how soft the wiener itself was, definitely a skinless dog and if I had to guess it spent all day in a bath of hotdog water... BUT, it was a tasty dog, and whatever the fuck they're doing with their Green Chili is banging. Never had green chili on a hotdog before but it slaps (are the kids still saying that, that things "slap?"). I was also going to dock points for the basic shredded cheddar cheese on top, which wouldn't be my first choice of cheese on a green chili, but it all tasted great, so it's fine. I just think there's better options.
I wasn't going to mention sides, unless they're noteworthy, and I think the fries definitely were. Just look at them, they taste how they look, pretty fuckin' good.
I paired it with a Powder River Hazy IPA from @grandtetonbrewing - all together $13. $9 for the dog and fries, and $4 for the beer. That's a pretty good deal these days. You could get 2 for $13, but maybe next time, they have 3 other dogs I'll be back to try.
5/7 Wieners! It was almost a 4, but the chili, like lube in other aspects of life, eased things up to a more pleasant experience.
And if you're confused about the scoring system, that's by design. Because like packages of hotdogs, brats, sausages, and their respective buns, the numbers don't make sense!
