MASON’S BREWING CO.
Listen up dildos! Summer is almost done and I still have a few more WHWS posts to make, so I'm gonna make this quick. Edit: Oops, it's long!
I'm just gonna say it, Maine had the best hot dogs of WHWS. An apparent hot dog paradise I wasn't even aware of until after our flights and hotels were booked for a "relaxing" Labor Day vacation. And it's making me rethink what a hot dog can be.
We had a few spots mapped out to try during our trip, but Mason's Brewing Co wasn't even on the hot dog radar and a total surprise. My fiancee saw the menu first and said "They've got hot dogs!" So I gasped in excitement like a Southern Debutante (a hot dog on the first night, oh my!) and power walked back to the car to get my camera!
They have 3 unique hot dogs on the menu which all looked great, but I got their Drunk Dog. A Snap-O-Razzo All Beef Dog topped with Bacon, Caramelized Onions, a Stout Mustard, and Beer Cheese. Honestly it felt like a risky order, although I think you can tell from the pics it was a good choice. The wiener had a nice sear and a really great snap because of the natural casing. The toppings just worked so well together, sweet from the onions, a really bold mustard, and a melty (but not liquidy!) beer cheese to balance everything out. All between a butter-toasted top-sliced brioche bun.
Seriously, I looked up Mason's on Google later and there were ZERO mentions of their hot dogs, everyone gets the burgers. Sorry not sorry, but the burgers can get bent, wieners are what you want @masonsbrewingco
6/7 sizzling glizzies for their Drunk Dog.
Oh and I highly recommend checking out @snaporazzo for their super tasty wieners!
P.S. - Mason's is right across the river from Bangor, ME which is where Stephen King lived for a long time. You can check out his old mansion and visit different spots he pulled inspiration from for his novels including the sewer drain for IT.
Late edit: Fantastic beer at Mason's too!
